Passport Verification

How long does it take to get a passport?

Whether you apply in Australia or overseas, you should allow approximately three weeks to get a new passport. If you need to travel urgently, you can request priority service (an additional fee is payable). This will ensure we issue your passport within two business days of receiving everything we need from you.

How much time does it take to get a passport in India?

Now, get a new passport in 30 days. Citizens will no longer have to wait endlessly for their passports. The ministry of external affairs has fixed a time limit of 30 days for the issuance of new passports, 15 days for re-issue of passports and one to seven days for Tatkaal applications.

How is police verification done for issue of passport?

You cannot obtain a passport without police verification. But, if you apply under the Tatkaal scheme or submit “Pension Payment Order”, passport can be issued on Post police verification basis (i.e. police verification would be done after the issuance of passport).

Is there any police verification for reissue of passport?

No police verification is required for reissue of passports, the government said today. “For reissue of passports, police verification is not required, provided the first passport had been issued on the basis of clear police report,” Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh told Lok Sabha in a written reply.
